I've just had my first CT scan...I feel so special. Actually I feel a bit sick: whatever it was they pumped into my arm (I'm turning into a fucking pin cushion) has made me a little 'all over the shop' so this'll be a short one before cramming a sausage roll and collapsing into bed again. Imagine the noise a jet engine makes when starting up - this, when you're inches from an oscillating machine, is not the best of environments to not want to take a wee in.. Especially when the nurse mentions that the injection may 'make your pelvis feel a little uncomfortable'. Yeah - think what it's like to have your balls slowly heated over a low fire. I bet you'll be able to see my piss glow in the dark for a week. Time for more painkillers.

And that's Christmas over for another year - another one filled with strange alcoholic beverages and wandering aimlessly round Bluewater on Christmas Eve. Once again a great week spent at home sampling homemade cranberry and raspberry vodka, courtesy of my Mother's dancing partner, and someone else's cooking - by someone else I mean someone other than my Mam's as I don't think she has cooked since 1988 . Was all fired up for the enormous Kentish blizzards too following the several severe weather warnings we'd received - turned out to be a bit of a damp squib with about an inch (if that) coming down last night for about an hour. Wow. Easy tiger. I can see why our transportation systems panic at this time of year with a downpour like that.

Burton and Marriott, to which I have been invited to play the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come...or as he's more popularly known in 'da hood, Death. This has suddenly gotten me VERY excited - in whatever way you think... I'm a BIG Stephen King fan and by big I mean there's very little of his that he's written that I haven't read - novels, novellas, shorts, articles, hell even interview transcripts. This man is my literary God. SO you can imagine the undulation in my trousers when I heard that his seven volume 'magnum opus', The Dark Tower (which in my opinion is one of the greatest fantasy serials ever written - fine enough to rival Tolkein), is to be adapted into graphic novel form by those incredibly talented artists (and tracers) at Marvel Comics during the middle of next year. Mr P-C has tinkered somewhat and 'solved' the problem of my stricken computer - I reckon he took it home and gave it a damn good kicking to be honest. My heartiest thanks go out to him and Mr Spain as well as Mr McCluskey who both contributed their time and help. So here I am, back online with very little interesting things to talk about as I've been sat in my room on my arse for the past week after putting my knee out playing that stupid game I play. Not been a happy chappy over the past few days but things are a little better now. Oh and I start teaching full time until Christmas from next Monday onwards so wish me luck - I'm off to finish an essay, a reflective summary and prepare all my lessons for next week... such an easy job.

Right- the back's not bad and the knee's hanging in there whilst the thumb is healing but now the ankle's buggered. I am just one big lump that seems to be falling apart a piece at a time. BUT the good news is that I had a great weekend off from doing anything really - was escorted around our excellent capital by the lovely Tania and partook in the drinking of many beers (until my ankle stopped hurting) before returning on a random rail replacement bus in the stupid hours of this morning. Thanks Tan, top day out ;) Today however brings with it training - and I'm not going to be able to do anything other than stand and watch. Rage. I hate it when an injury impedes a sport. I shall simply have to go and urge the Fresher's on by shouting lots at them - hopefully I'll be able to pick out some good defencemen today. Oh and please send Mr. Martin Spain a hug: I know we could all use one but he gets first dibs.

No more alcohol please, I'm full. This weekend has been a painful one. Friday saw the return to uni for us teachers to gather and reflect on our seperate schools and kids - I must say I'm still feeling quite chuffed at the school I've got, some of the guys turned up to theirs and no-one knew they were coming - worrying... Lectures kick out at 1pm on Fridays so without hesitation we all piled down the bar. Where we stayed. For 12 hours. Granted, the venue changed a couple of times but either way.. Spent the rest of the evening avoiding Chesney Hawkes and spiking Andy's drinks with sambuca - I can still hear him cry 'DOES THIS TASTE LIKE LIQUORICE TO ANYONE ELSE??!' Hangover wasn't TOO bad on Saturday morning so we all went shopping in Watford, a silly mistake that ended up with me spending an inordinate amount of money followed by the lot of us descending on Jaipur curry house in Old Hatfield, lovely stuff. Packed full we moved onto the Font where as usual I spent the night talking to girls and getting nowhere. On getting home I discovered that Dan had turned everything in my room upside down - and I mean it, I have two bookcases and every last sodding book IS STILL upside down. I get a bit anal about things being the right way up and straight and in a certain place so the HILARITY that ensued at about 3am this morning with me staggering around trying to right everything was interesting. Anyway, time to soak up whatever's left in my stomach I believe - training at 3. Sob.

There is already a poured cup of tea sitting waiting for me. I pick it up and sip it as I walk over to another table where there is hot toast waiting for me. I pick up a couple of slices of that and sit in an armchair and discuss the day with other teachers. Then at the end of the day, if it's a Friday, I pick up a cake on my way to the local pub with everyone else. In your FACE office workers.

I've just looked out my window to see the sun shining on the large chestnut tree in the churchyard and am dismayed to see that it's leaves are already turning brown :( Bye bye summer. Day 5, and the end of my first week, ended with me giving a quick presentation to the rest of my English lot as well as finding out that I've been placed in Sir John Lawes School in Harpenden and after checking out the OFSTED stuff and the exam results it all looks pretty good.... A friend of mine, Vicky, was placed here - she's not so chuffed! Still no loan. >:o(

Thank god - have a monster hangover. Big thanks to the lads for last night as I 'jacked in' to their Matrix, sorry the numbers were off kilter but I have training as of next week and you can go back to scoffing your chocolatey treats. Once again boys, top night. Course is going good, still meeting lots of new chaps and chappesses who are all as mental for wanting to go into this job as I am but fortunately we all share the same concerns and fears so I'm bricking it a little less now that I know we're all in the same boat. Trying to work out the best night every week to go out and drown our sorrows so I think a StudyNet discussion is in order! Off now to sit and wait for lots of money to fall into my account. Ps. Well after the past several weeks of being terrified at the thought of having to turn into a grown up and become a teacher I've finally started my PGCE. Today came with the equally mixed feelings of terror and excitement so I didn't get an awful lot of sleep last night but I feel better for having actually gotten the ball rolling. I'm still kind of scared about the whole thing to be honest but I was also getting quite excited at the whole prospect. This year's going to be a fucking hard slog (I discovered EXACTLY what the workload is going to be like - first assignment due in next Friday and I start in school next Wednesday) but at the same time I'm intrigued to see if I'm up to the challenge of organising myself and keeping on top of everything. There's some nice new guys on my course as well as three chaps from Literature so the four of us are being looked upon in awe as we know where everything is - a great pulling technique, I can envisage :D Am looking forward to getting to know everyone properly and getting used to the whole 'Mr. Fish' thing.

Ok, seeing as I've been effectively incapacitated from working the phones as my voice is shot to shit I've decided to take an executive decision and not go back... Sounds a little severe you may say? Not really, I've only got 2 days left and then I'm back to Uni next Monday - oh utter joy - Once more unto the breach and all that... One year to go Rich, one more... Except I was sort of saying that last year really wasn't I? Oh well. Working with a bunch of Arty kids this Saturday over at the Law campus in St Albans, should be....financially beneficial if nothing else (getting a good £7.50 or so an hour, can't complain) and this will hopefully be followed by another meeting of Club Chad, our now infamous poker sessions. Don't know if we should allow Mr Deaville back in actually cause he keeps whooping us all - we'll see.

I never thought I'd actually get that excited about cricket but the last few hours of this Ashes series has me on the edge of my increasingly uncomfortable wheelie chair here in the office. Stevie B and I are flapping like unhappy pigeons in our respective workplaces and getting NO work done as a result. Free pizza is probably one of the best things in the world. Fact. I'm sitting in Nomy Piiiiie's office munching on Pizza Hut's finest and it's having a fantastic effect on my hangover. Feeling much better than I was at about 10 this morning - Fordy and I hit St Albans last night to say bye bye to Mr. Tony Fletcher, a rather nice chap from the office, and we had an interesting evening trying to dodge bouncers intent on hurting us cause we didn't pay to get in..hehehe The pizza is free, incidentally, because Tamer has called up and blagged some freebies in excange for advertising space in the UNIverse, the university paper. Bravo Pizza Hut. And bravo Tamer. Oh and my Polizia medical went v v smoothly - no fingers in bottoms or cupping and coughing but I DO need a Hep B shot :( Ah well, the guy said I have the lungs of a teenager so that's the best compliment I've had in a while... Off to find tissues to wipe grease off Nomy's keyboard now.

I was going to entertain you all with a fantastic story of fantasy and guile but unfortunately I've just accidentally deleted today's entry so you'll have to make do with 'How Bored I Am' today... I'm currently opening the worlds largest pile of mail here in Admissions with my headphones in trying my hardest to ignore everyone around me (except Fordy who sometimes comes out with a little nugget of wit, sometimes). The most interesting thing that will happen to me this weekend is peeing into a little cup for a Police nurse. How rubbish is that? I need to find something infinitely more interesting to spend my time doing. Which is why I'm reminded that term starts in a week and I'm looking forward to it with equal parts enthusiasm and terror. I've yet to discover if I can actually hack it as a teacher - guess I'll find out soon huh?

V long day. About to collapse pitifully into my bed, sore, broken and sunburnt. Bath 8's was a success....for every team except us - we played 6 lost 6...oh well, I had some good moments in defence and didn't let MANY goals/attackers through :s Unfortunately I think my right thumb is broken or has suffered some serious tendon/ligament/general innard damage so I'm kind of sore. I also got sunburnt which is totally my fault I know but it looked cloudy at 7am this morning (WHEN DOESN'T IT YOU MORON?) and I left my cream (factor 3 billion) here...spent most of the day skulking around in the shadows - neck n legs = not happy. Oh and then Danny and I sat in the world's longest traffic jam. An accident at Reading meant that we sat between one junction for over 3 hours. To be honest I'm just grateful we left before the Cardiff football crowd did as by the time we were clear the queue had actually backed up to Bath itself...yikes. Good poker sesh afterwards tho with Hassan (my maaaan) - Marty, Tom and Deaville, you were sorely missed :D Time for bed. One last query though, and I expect comments... Cake or Death?

God......SO glad to get back onto my own computer instead of using my Mother's laptop - bless it, it hasn't got a clue... A weekend of eating food and drinking beer I didn't pay for is over, shame...BUT I did have to resculpt her hedge which took about 3 hours today.. Ouch. Those strimmer things make your arms go numb - NOT a good thing when you have to drive back on the M25 in traffic :S Having a BBQ tomorrow, always good, and I've stolen my Mam's Ex's golf clubs so we'll be testing them out on the par 3 tomorrow in MK - cheers Bob! Top night! V impressed with Moeker and their instrument wrenching activities, top top top set - definately looking forward to their album launch in Islington. Now have a small headache and feeling alittle off kilter but nothing too long lasting :D Off home to see Mam tomorrow so I'll be repairing roofs and painting fences etc for a few days before enjoying the rest of my stupidly long weekend here at home not spending other peoples money, which I'm sick off..
